E.On get cold feet over Kingsnorth

Energy company E.On has turned cold turkey over its controversial Kingsnorth coal plant plans leaving business secretary John Hutton isolated in his determination to push ahead with dirty coal developments.

Dr Mark Avery, Conservation Director at the RSPB, said: “E.On has lost the courage of its convictions in the face of widespread derision over government plans to turn back to coal.

“The industry is rapidly losing confidence in the government’s flagging energy policies. Coal must not be considered for energy generation without us first having the means to store the huge emissions from its use. If that means waiting for 10 or 15 years, then that's what we must do.”
